I hate this question

Last month, Gary and I had the opportunity to share our story on Brad Stine’s podcast, where we talked about God's redemption, waiting for the right person, and what it means to trust Him with our romantic dreams. One key topic we addressed was a question I often get—and honestly, hate: “Is there only one person out there for everyone?”

This question feels limiting, as if it shrinks God down and ignores His all-knowing nature. Scripture tells us that God already knows our choices and has a good plan in place no matter what (Psalm 139:16, Romans 8:28–29, Jeremiah 29:11). Yes, we have free will, but God's sovereignty still covers it all.

We can choose relationships based on our own logic, or we can follow God's leading—faithfully choosing “the one” He has for us. Both paths may lead to good, but only one is powered by faith and designed to thrill God’s heart.

The real question isn’t about soulmates. It’s this: Do I really want what God wants? That’s the fork in the road between just getting what you want… and stepping into a faith-filled, purpose-driven love story.
