The Desires of Your Heart…
Psalm 37: 4-5 tells us to TAKE PLEASURE in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
We lived a long time with the desire of our hearts to marry. Initially, we did not understand that taking pleasure in God was a purpose in our waiting. This scripture is not suggesting an exchange; give Him pleasure and He will give you what you desire. No, it is a gift eternally being handed to us, the pleasure of God is extended to us for our taking and to be enjoyed now and when our desires come.
Now is the time to enjoy your relationship with God’s love and provision for you as a single and undivided in your affections. It is a sacred time. As you do you will find the desires of your heart will fuse with His desires for you and you’ll be unable to settle for less than what He is inspiring in you.
The Psalm continues with an instruction: “Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him and He will bring it to pass. Verse 23 shows us the delight He gets in return, “The steps of a good man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in His way [and He busies Himself with his every step].”
You see, the delight is mutual. While delighting in Him He is delighting in making Himself busy with your every step. You don’t need to go “out there” to find love. Take pleasure in Him and He will walk you right into the love His been planning for you.
